FEICA 2025

Once again, Mapei and Vinavil took center stage at FEICA 2025, the annual conference of the European Adhesive and Sealant Association, held this year in the beautiful setting of San Sebastian, Spain.
Among the highlights, Fabio Abbà (R&A Vinavil) stood out with his presentation “Sustainability Translation into Practice” in the Industry Practices & Perspectives session. During his talk, Abbà shared concrete examples of how Vinavil is advancing its sustainability journey, leveraging recognized standards and third-party verification to ensure greater credibility for its claims. Key initiatives highlighted included the company’s ISCC PLUS certification and its voluntary communication of environmental performance through the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology.
Alongside him, Mikaela Decio (Mapei) and Fabio Chiozza (Vinavil) chaired several technical sessions, while Cristina Gastaldin (Mapei) officially represented the Mapei Group, a FEICA member, at the association’s institutional meetings.
The event opened on Wednesday 10th with an introductory seminar focused on the most pressing topics in Regulation and Sustainability (REACH revision, microplastics, Digital Product Passport, and the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation). It continued on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th with technical conferences showcasing the latest innovations in the adhesives and sealants industry. During the Plenary Session, internationally renowned speakers also addressed the economic and industrial challenges arising from today’s turbulent global geopolitical landscape.
FEICA once again proved to be an extraordinary event for industry stakeholders, blending technical and scientific updates with a broader strategic vision. For Mapei and Vinavil, joining forces with AVISA and other European member companies means strengthening the adhesives and sealants community, while building lasting relationships and partnerships in a spirit of shared growth.

BIO WOOD ADHESIVES

VINAVIL continues its path of innovation in sustainability by expanding its product range for the wood sector and promoting two brand-new products for wood bonding, class D3, with high heat resistance and creep resistance: VINAVIL BIO 2252 M, a BIO vinyl dispersion according to the mass balance approach, and VINAVIL BIO 2211 L, instead based on the C-14 approach.

Following the achievement of ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) for both its Italian production sites in Ravenna and Villadossola, Vinavil has begun purchasing bio-attributed vinyl acetate. This means that all vinyl products in the Vinavil range can be made available upon request in a BIO version according to the mass balance approach. In this case, no specific homologation tests are required since there are no formulation changes that would affect performance.

VINAVIL BIO 2211 L, on the other hand, represents a new challenge for the D3 adhesive market, as it is the result of extensive research into innovating traditional formulations to meet market demands for increasingly higher biogenic carbon content in finished adhesives, while safeguarding performance and costs. Vinavil 2211 L contains 11% carbon from bio-based sources, measured using the C14 method. A 20% version will also be available soon.

CULTURE

STRESA FESTIVAL 2025

As every year, VINAVIL sponsored an evening at the STRESA FESTIVAL, the prestigious concert series held each summer against the stunning backdrop of Lake Maggiore. For VINAVIL, the event on September 3rd was particularly special, not only because of the presence of 150 guests. The success of the evening was guaranteed by the performance itself: Mozart’s DON GIOVANNI. For the first time in Stresa, the opera was brought to life in a completely new way, thanks to director and dramaturge GianMaria Aliverta, who has been presenting this innovative approach to opera around the world. The focus of the performance was on the audience, placed in close contact with the singers, who are also exceptionally talented actors. This approach completely transformed the audience’s perspective, gently immersing them into the story, allowing them to experience all the nuances felt by the protagonists, and breaking down the traditional barrier between spectators and the stage. The result was a truly immersive and captivating performance, accompanied by a remarkable string quartet.

Vinavil is proud to support cultural events of this caliber and to strengthen its relationships with both clients and the local community.
