The Czech Republic announced that it will end the placing on the market of creosote-treated utility poles used for electricity and telecommunications. The country requested to be removed from the list of Member States where the placing on the market of such poles is permitted. The date of removal is 18 February 2026.
A mandatory transition period of 180 days applies following the date of removal. This means parties may continue placing creosote-treated utility poles on the Czech market until 17 August 2026.
