Consultations on harmonised classification and labelling

We are looking for comments on the harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) proposals for:

  • N-ethyl-N-[2-[1-(2-methylpropoxy)ethoxy]ethyl]-4-(phenylazo)aniline (EC 252-021-1, CAS 34432-92-3)

  • 1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triamine; melamine (EC 203-615-4, CAS 108-78-1).

Have your say until 17 April 2026.

New proposals to harmonise classification and labelling

Four proposals have been submitted for:

  • Vanadate(1-), oxo[phosphato(3-)-κO]-, hydrogen, hydrate (2:2:1) (EC -, CAS 93280-40-1)*
  • Ammonium trioxovanadate (EC 232-261-3, CAS 7803-55-6)*
  • Sodium metavanadate (EC 237-272-7, CAS 13718-26-8)*
  • Potassium vanadium trioxide (EC 237-388-8, CAS 13769-43-2)*.

*Name, EC and/or CAS to be confirmed.


Biocides

 

Czech Republic to end use of creosote-treated utility poles

The Czech Republic announced that it will end the placing on the market of creosote-treated utility poles used for electricity and telecommunications. The country requested to be removed from the list of Member States where the placing on the market of such poles is permitted. The date of removal is 18 February 2026.


A mandatory transition period of 180 days applies following the date of removal. This means parties may continue placing creosote-treated utility poles on the Czech market until 17 August 2026.

The recording of our expert workshop on new hazard classes under the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation can be found on our science pages. The workshop focused on the new hazard classes for:

  • persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT), very persistent, very bioaccumulative (vPvB); and
  • persistent, mobile and toxic (PMT), very persistent, very mobile (vPvM) substances.

Highlights from Member State Committee meeting

In its February meeting, our Member State Committee established an ad hoc working group on substances of very high concern (SVHC) equivalent level of concern cases and adopted its mandate.


The committee adopted its opinion on ECHA’s draft proposal to add eight new substances to the draft Community Rolling Action Plan for 2026-2028. The plan will be published in March.

Assessment of regulatory needs reports published

Reports for the following substance groups are now available on our website:

  • tert-alkyl hindered phenols
  • Ester-functionalised 2,6-di-tert-alkylphenols
