We take on additional tasks to strengthen chemical safety in Europe

The European Union’s One Substance, One Assessment (OSOA) package brings us new tasks.

Working closely with other EU agencies and authorities, we will lead efforts to build a common data platform on chemicals, streamline assessments, and strengthen collaboration to better protect human health and the environment.

REACH

New substance evaluation conclusion published

  • Perfluamine (EC 206-420-2, CAS 338-83-0), evaluated by Belgium.

List of biocides suppliers updated

An updated Article 95 list of active substance and product suppliers is now available.

Drinking Water Directive

Companies can start notifying intentions under the Drinking Water Directive

We have launched a new online tool for industry to notify its plans to update the EU Positive Lists of substances that are approved for use in materials that come into contact with drinking water.

By using the ECHA Industry Portal companies can indicate those substances that they wish to keep, add or remove from the European Positive Lists. The notifications are prepared in the IUCLID format.

Manuals, guidance and video tutorials are available for support.

Drinking Water Directive stakeholder workshop: Q&A available

We have published answers to the questions received before and during our Drinking Water Directive stakeholder workshop in October 2025.

Recordings and presentations are also available on the same page.

Toy Safety Regulation

We take on new responsibilities to improve toy safety

The Toy Safety Regulation, which entered into force on 1 January 2026, gives us new responsibilities.

We will assess chemical safety in toys, process companies’ derogation requests to use prohibited chemicals and provide scientific recommendations through our expert committees.

Through this work, we will contribute to ensuring that toys sold in the EU are safe for children.

IT tools

REACH registration data and C&L Inventory now only available in ECHA CHEM

Since 18 December 2025, the REACH registration data and the Classification and Labelling (C&L) Inventory information has only been available on ECHA CHEM.

This change is part of the gradual process of closing the old Search for chemicals pages as we are moving the collected data to ECHA CHEM.
