New perspectives on risk—and new capabilities in CM1

This month, we are combining regulatory insight with practical product development. Sanctions risk increasingly requires organizations to look beyond a direct name match and understand ownership, control and indirect connections.

At the same time, our 29 September release expands the information, screening and analysis capabilities available in CM1—helping customers build a stronger and more traceable basis for risk-based decisions.

Sandra Madstedt,

CM1 Business Manager

01

Are you looking beyond names to ownership, control and indirect sanctions exposure?

02

Is your customer information current across the Nordic markets where you operate?

INSIGHT 01

Sanctions risk is more than a name match

Identifying ownership, control and indirect connections is becoming increasingly important when managing sanctions risk. Screening the customer alone may not reveal relevant sanctions exposure through ownership structures, control relationships or wider corporate networks. A robust approach therefore needs to combine direct screening with analysis of ownership structures, control and relationships.

  • Who owns the customer?
  • Who controls or exercises influence over the customer?
  • Are there indirect connections that traditional customer screening may not reveal?

Question for your team

Do your controls provide a sufficiently complete view of ownership, control and indirect sanctions exposure?

INSIGHT 02

Better data creates a stronger foundation for risk decisions

Reliable risk assessment depends on current and accurate customer information. When underlying company data becomes outdated or fragmented across markets, the quality of downstream KYC decisions can be affected.

From 29 September, CM1 extends company information retrieval to Denmark, Finland and Norway, enabling users to retrieve up-to-date company details directly from the customer record when adding or updating an organizational customer.

Extended Nordic coverage

  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • Norway

Available in the customer workflow

  • When adding a new organizational customer
  • When updating an existing customer

WHAT’S NEW IN CM1 — 29 SEPTEMBER

New services broaden screening and due diligence

Different risks require different data. The autumn release therefore broadens the information and screening capabilities available directly in CM1, supporting more informed risk identification and due diligence across customers, individuals and maritime networks.

  • Nordic company information: retrieve current company names and addresses for organisational customers in Denmark, Finland and Norway.
  • Swedish register of trading prohibition: identify individuals with active or historical trading prohibitions and apply relevant customer attributes for risk assessment and transaction monitoring.
  • Vessel Screening: screen vessel names and IMO numbers against relevant sanctions lists to support trade compliance, AML and third-party risk management.

Take-away

The new services provide additional data and screening capabilities that can be incorporated into risk-based processes and documented directly in CM1.

PRODUCT UPDATE

Insight Map 2.0 and smarter day-to-day workflows

Insight 2.0

Insight Map 2.0 makes it easier to understand complex ownership structures and relationships between companies and individuals.

Explore company and person networks across Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway with powerful filters, custom warning rules, graph and table views, and detailed information about roles, ownership and group structures.

Further workflow improvements

The release also adds the new goAML risk indicator “OFKLE — unexplained property” and improves automatic archiving of PEP/RCA hits by taking incomplete inactive dates into account.

Together, these updates help case managers investigate complex networks more efficiently, improve traceability and support more consistent handling of risk-related information.

Coming next: screening history in the customer view

A forthcoming customer screening log will make it possible to view a customer’s screening history directly in CM1. Users will be able to select a date range and follow when the customer has been screened for sanctions, PEP/RCA and adverse media. This will provide a clearer view over time, strengthen traceability and make follow-up easier without leaving the customer view.

The feature is planned as a feature release ahead of the December 2026 release.

Introducing AI safely in CM1

  • At CM1, we are exploring how AI can help make better use of knowledge, strengthen decision support and support more efficient AML processes.
  • Our approach is to introduce AI were it creates clear value, while maintaining appropriate guardrails, risk assessments and human oversight.
  • The organizations that succeed with AI may not be those that use it the most, but those that combine innovation with sound judgement, control and human expertise.

Coming next - Upcoming releases
