In der Mai-Ausgabe unseres Newsletters möchten wir auf eine Reihe von internationalen Fördermöglichkeiten hinweisen. In den kommenden Tagen und Wochen sind mehrere Informationsveranstaltungen zu Horizon Europe geplant. Wir möchten Sie auch auf Programme mit längeren Fristen aufmerksam machen, die einige Vorbereitung erfordern, wie z.B. Agora, MSCA-Postdoktorierendenstipendien oder Eureka-CVC.

Postdoc.Mobility

Postdoc.Mobility-Stipendien richten sich an Wissenschaftler:innen nach dem Doktorat, die einen Forschungsaufenthalt im Ausland durchführen möchten. Ziel ist es, Wissen zu vertiefen und das wissenschaftliche Netzwerk mit Blick auf eine zukünftige wissenschaftliche oder akademische Laufbahn in der Schweiz zu stärken.

Einreichfrist: 5. August 2025.

Agora

Das Instrument Agora fördert den Dialog zwischen Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft. Es unterstützt Forschende, die sich darum bemühen, die Resultate ihrer aktuellen Forschung einem Laienpublikum zu vermitteln. Projekte mit einem Budget von 5'000 bis 50'000 CHF können jederzeit eingereicht werden. Für Projekte mit einem Budget von bis zu 200'000 CHF gilt die Einreichfrist im September 2025.

Einreichfrist: 16. September 2025.

Ausschreibung mit AMED 2025: Strategic Japanese-Swiss Science and Technology Programme 

Der SNF und die Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) lancieren eine Ausschreibung für gemeinsame Forschungsprojekte zum Thema «Inflammaging». Die Ausschreibung ist offen für Projekte aus der Gesundheitsforschung und hat zum Ziel, die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Forschenden aus der Schweiz und Japan zu fördern.

Einreichfrist: 1. Juli 2025.

3. Innosuisse

BRIDGE Proof of Concept

BRIDGE Proof of Concept richtet sich an junge Forschende auf Master- oder PhD-Stufe und Hochschulabsolvent:innen, die in einem Projekt innovative Produkte und Dienstleistungen entwickeln. Es gibt mehrere Einreichfristen im Laufe des Jahres, die nächste ist für Juni geplant.

Einreichfrist: 16. Juni 2025.

Eureka-CVC

Im Rahmen der Eureka-Initiative sind Schweizer Unternehmen und Forschungsinstitutionen eingeladen, F&E-Projekte mit Fokus auf zirkuläre Wertschöpfung (Circular Value Creation, CVC) auf internationaler Ebene durchzuführen. Voraussetzung ist die Beteiligung von mindestens zwei Organisationen mit Sitz in teilnehmenden Ländern. Am 22. Mai 2025 findet ein Brokerage Event statt.

Einreichfrist: 30. September 2025.

4. Weitere Fördermöglichkeiten

REPIC

REPIC (Renewable Energy, Energy and Resource Efficiency Promotion in International Cooperation) ist eine interdepartementale Plattform mit dem Ziel, Schweizer Wissen und Technologie zur Entwicklung von erneuerbaren Energien und Ressourceneffizienz in Entwicklungs- und Transitionsländern weiterzutragen. Sie unterstützt nachhaltige und innovative Projekte, die den lokalen Energie- oder Ressourcenbedarf in diesen Ländern adressieren.

Einreichfrist: 9. Juli 2025.

EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship

EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization) Postdoctoral Fellowships unterstützen exzellente Postdoktorierende in ganz Europa und weltweit für einen Zeitraum von bis zu zwei Jahren. Gefördert werden Forschende aus dem Bereich der Lebenswissenschaften.

Einreichfrist: 11. Juli 2025.

Stiftungen

Wir möchten Sie auf die Ausschreibungen der folgenden vier Stiftungen hinweisen:

• Die Sophie und Karl Binding Stiftung gewährt Förderbeiträge für Projekte in den Bereichen Umwelt, Soziales und Kultur. Einreichfrist: 30. Juni 2025.
• Die Stanley Thomas Johnson Stiftung fördert Projekte in den Bereichen Kultur, Bildung, humanitäre Hilfe und medizinische Forschung. Einreichfrist: 1. Juli 2025.
• Temperatio unterstützt Projekte aus den Bereichen Umwelt, Soziales und Kultur. Einreichfrist: 15. Juli 2025.
• Die Jubiläumsstiftung der Mobiliar vergibt finanzielle Beiträge an Institutionen oder Einzelpersonen für Wissenschaft und Forschung, künstlerische Projekte und Kulturpflege. Einreichfrist: 31. Juli 2025.

In the May issue of our newsletter, we would like to highlight a number of international funding opportunities. Several Horizon Europe information events are planned for the coming days and weeks. We would also like to draw your attention to programmes with longer deadlines that require some preparation, such as Agora, MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships, or Eureka-CVC.

1. Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF)

Postdoc.Mobility

Postdoc.Mobility fellowships are aimed at researchers who have done a doctorate and who wish to conduct a research stay abroad. The objective is to enable them to acquire more in-depth knowledge and to extend their scientific network, in view of a future scientific or academic career in Switzerland.

Submission deadline: 5 August 2025.

Agora

The Agora scheme aims to foster dialogue between scientists and society. It encourages researchers to communicate their current research to an audience of lay people. Projects with a budget of CHF 5,000 up to CHF 50,000 can be submitted all year round. Projects with a budget of up to CHF 200,000 need to be submitted by the submission deadline in September 2025.

Submission deadline: 16 September 2025.

Joint Call with AMED 2025: Strategic Japanese-Swiss Science and Technology Programme 

The SNSF and the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) are launching a joint call for proposals on the topic of “inflammaging”. The call is open to proposals in health research and aims to promote collaboration between researchers in Switzerland and Japan.

Submission deadline: 1 July 2025.

2. European funding

Horizon Europe Work Programmes 2025

The work programmes 2025 for all the clusters, missions and further instruments in Horizon Europe and the amended work programmes for MSCA have been pre-published. They contain calls with deadlines mainly in September and October 2025.
For some of the 2026 and 2027 work programmes, drafts are already circulating and available on the Science Business website.
Institutions established in Switzerland are eligible to participate in all the restricted topics in the Horizon Europe work programmes 2025.

ERC Advanced Grants

The ERC Advanced Grants call will open on 22 May 2025. It is intended for researchers with significant track records and achievements who wish to obtain long-term funding to pursue a ground-breaking, ambitious project. Applications can be made in any field of research. On 4 June 2025, Euresearch will hold an information event on ERC Advanced Grants 2025.

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship 2025

The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships call opened on 8 May 2025. These fellowships enhance the creative and innovative potential of excellent researchers who wish to acquire new skills through advanced training, international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility. European Postdoctoral Fellowships enable researchers of all nationalities to obtain a fellowship in Europe. Global Fellowships offer European researchers the opportunity to spend time abroad outside the EU. 

Submission deadline: 10 September 2025.

Circular Biobased Europe

The mission of Joint Undertaking Circular Biobased Europe is to advance a competitive bioeconomy for a sustainable Europe. Therefore, the public-private partnership is funding projects developing innovative and sustainable solutions, with a focus on these strategic priorities: feedstock, processing, products and cross-cutting aspects of communication and environmental sustainability.
You can watch recordings of the information event and have a look at the networking platform. 

Submission deadline: 18 September 2025.

Information Days: Horizon Europe

The Horizon Europe Information Days taking place in May and June give prospective applicants the opportunity to get information and ask questions about the upcoming calls. They are all accessible online. Recordings are available after the events.

Information Days: Horizon Europe Cluster 2

The information day on 15 May 2025 aims to inform potential applicants about the topics included in the Cluster 2 work programme 2025 "Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Societies". The brokerage event on the Net4Society Cluster 2 Community Platform on 16 May 2025 will be dedicated to consortium building.

Brokerage: Horizon Europe Cluster 4

From 15 May to 2 October 2025, Horizon Europe Cluster 4 Digital applicants can participate in a brokerage event with pre-arranged online Face2Face meetings. This is a unique networking opportunity for actors in the digital field.

3. Innosuisse

BRIDGE Proof of Concept 

BRIDGE Proof of Concept is aimed at young researchers at Master or PhD level and recent graduates who are developing innovative products and services in a project. There are several deadlines throughout the year with the next one scheduled for June.

Submission deadline: 16 June 2025.

Eureka CVC

As part of the Eureka initiative, Swiss companies and research institutes are invited to undertake R&D projects focusing on circular value creation (CVC) at an international level. The project must include at least two organisations based in participating countries. A brokerage event will be held on 22 May 2025.

Submission deadline: 30 September 2025.

4. Other funding opportunities

REPIC

REPIC (Renewable Energy, Energy and Resource Efficiency Promotion in International Cooperation) is an interdepartmental platform aiming to transfer Swiss knowledge and technology to develop renewable energy and resource efficiency in developing and transition countries. It supports sustainable and innovative projects that address local energy or resource needs in these countries.

Submission deadline: 9 July 2025.

EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship

EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization) Postdoctoral Fellowships support excellent postdoctoral researchers throughout Europe and the world for a period of up to two years. Funding is available for researchers from the life sciences.

Submission deadline: 11 July 2025.

Foundations

We would like to draw your attention to the calls for proposals of the following four foundations:

• The Sophie and Karl Binding Foundation provides funding in the areas of environment, social issues and culture. Submission deadline: 30 June 2025. 
• The Stanley Thomas Johnson Foundation supports projects in the fields of culture, education, humanitarian aid and medical research. Submission deadline: 1 July 2025.
• Temperatio supports environmental, social and cultural projects. Submission deadline: 15 July 2025.
• The Mobiliar Jubilee Foundation awards financial contributions to institutions or individuals for science and research, artistic projects and cultural preservation. Submission deadline: 31 July 2025.
