In unserem März-Newsletter haben wir auf die Anpassung der Zulassungszeitfenster für den ERC Starting Grant und Consolidator Grant ab 2027 hingewiesen. Die Angabe der neuen Zeitfenster enthielt jedoch einen Fehler: Statt 5 bis 10 Jahre nach Promotion kann ein ERC Consolidator Grant neu 5 bis 15 Jahre nach Abschluss der Promotion beantragt werden. Wir bitten den Fehler zu entschuldigen.

Der Bundesrat hat drei neue Nationale Forschungsprogramme lanciert: NFP 85 «Psychische Gesundheit von Jugendlichen», NFP 86 «Digitale Resilienz» und NFP 87 «Deglobalisierung und Resilienz». Ab Mitte 2026 werden die Ausschreibungen für die einzelnen Projekte über den Schweizerischen Nationalfonds erfolgen. Weitere Informationen finden Sie auf der Website des SNF.

1. Schweizerischer Nationalfonds (SNF)

Reformen in der SNF Karriereförderung

Der SNF überarbeitet seine Karriereförderung und hat bekannt gegeben, Postdoc.Mobility und Ambizione ab 2028 durch ein neues Instrument zu ersetzen. Details werden im Laufe des Jahres bekannt gegeben. Der erste Call öffnet planmässig im Januar 2028.

Das neue Instrument soll es Forschenden früher Karrierestufen erlauben, ein Projekt selbständig und in nationaler und internationaler Zusammenarbeit durchzuführen und so einen entscheidenden Schritt in ihrer wissenschaftlichen Karriere voranzugehen.

Die letzte Ausschreibung in Ambizione endet am 3. November 2026.

Bis Mitte 2027 folgen noch drei Ausschreibungen in Postdoc.Mobility. Die nächste Einreichfrist ist für 4. August 2026 angekündigt.

Agora – Einreichfrist verschoben

Agora fördert Kommunikationsprojekte, die den Dialog zwischen Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft stärken. Für den Agora Call (Budget bis 200'000 CHF) wird die Eingabefrist von September 2026 auf Anfang 2027 verschoben. Der SNF plant, eine laufende Eingabe ohne festes Einreichdatum einzuführen. Weitere Informationen folgen in den kommenden Monaten.

Gemeinsame Ausschreibung mit Australien zum Thema KI-gestützte Gesundheitsversorgung

Im Rahmen des bilateralen Programms mit Australien lancieren der SNF und das National Health and Medical Research Council eine gemeinsame Ausschreibung für Forschungsprojekte zu KI-gestützter Gesundheitsversorgung für unterrepräsentierte Bevölkerungsgruppen. Projekte dauern exakt vier Jahre mit einer maximalen Förderung von 400'000 CHF für den Schweizer Projektteil durch den SNF. Gesuche müssen bei beiden Förderorganisationen eingereicht werden.

3. Innosuisse

Eureka Biotech Call

Der Eureka Biotech Call fördert internationale Projekte mit klarem Innovationsgehalt und Umsetzungsplan in biotechnologischen Bereichen wie Medizin, Bioinformatik, Pharmazeutik, Digitalisierung und Bioprozesstechnologie. Konsortien müssen mindestens zwei Organisationen aus zwei der teilnehmenden Länder umfassen. Anträge sind sowohl über die Eureka Plattform als auch über das Innosuisse Eingabeportal einzureichen.

Einreichfrist: 25. September 2026.

Global Innovation Summit 2026

Der von Innosuisse vertretene Swiss Eureka Chair lädt zum Global Innovation Summit 2026 in Basel ein. Die Veranstaltung bietet die Möglichkeit, internationale Partnerschaften aufzubauen, Fördermöglichkeiten in über 40 Ländern zu erkunden und gemeinsame Innovationsprojekte auf den Weg zu bringen. Im Fokus stehen Matchmaking und Austausch zwischen Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und Innovationsförderorganisationen. Die Teilnahme ist kostenlos. Eine vorherige Anmeldung ist erforderlich.

Anmeldefrist: 3. Mai 2026.

Veranstaltung: 6. Mai 2026.

Women in Finance Scholarship

Das Women in Finance Scholarship zeichnet talentierte Frauen im Bereich Finanzwesen mit einem Stipendium von 20'000 USD aus. Berechtigt sind Frauen, die ein Master- oder PhD-Programm absolvieren, weniger als zehn Jahre Berufserfahrung und weniger als fünf Jahre Erfahrung im Finanzbereich aufweisen. Das Stipendium richtet sich an Personen, die eine Karriere in den Bereichen Asset Management, Risikomanagement, Fixed Income oder Derivate anstreben.

Akademien der Wissenschaften Schweiz: Prix Média Preise 2026

Die Akademien der Wissenschaften Schweiz schreiben die folgenden drei Preise aus:

• Der Prix Média honoriert exzellenten Wissenschaftsjournalismus in Print-, Audio- oder Videobeiträgen und ist mit 10'000 CHF dotiert.
• Der Prix MultiMédia wird für innovative Formen des Storytellings mit Datenvisualisierung, Animation, Virtual Reality oder anderen multimedialen Methoden verliehen und ist ebenfalls mit 10'000 CHF dotiert.
• Prix Média Newcomer: Studierende, junge Forschende, Nachwuchsjournalist:innen und andere Interessierte (bis 35 Jahre) sind eingeladen, Projektideen einzureichen. Eine Jury wählt die drei originellsten Projektideen aus und gewährt Beiträge von 3'000 CHF, um die Ideen innerhalb von drei Monaten umzusetzen. Die Gewinnerin oder der Gewinner wird in einem Public-Voting gewählt und erhält 3'000 CHF.

BBVA Foundation: Frontiers of Knowledge Awards

Die 19. Ausgabe der Frontiers of Knowledge Awards der BBVA Foundation würdigt herausragende Forschungsleistungen und künstlerische Werke in acht Kategorien: Grundlagenwissenschaften (Physik, Chemie, Mathematik); Biologie und Biomedizin; Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien; Klimawandel und Umweltwissenschaften; Wirtschaft und Management; Geisteswissenschaften; Sozialwissenschaften; Musik und Oper. Nominierungen können von Universitäten, Forschungszentren, Spitälern sowie Kunst- und Kulturinstitutionen eingereicht werden.

Einreichfrist: 30. Juni 2026.

Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program

Das Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program richtet sich an Forschende Schweizer Hochschulen und ermöglicht einen Aufenthalt von drei bis zehn Monaten an einer US-amerikanischen Hochschule. Gefördert werden Postdoc-Forschungsaufenthalte, Lehrtätigkeiten sowie kombinierte Lehr- und Forschungsaufenthalte. Besonders zur Bewerbung eingeladen sind Personen mit einem Bachelor- oder Master-Abschluss von Fachhochschulen sowie Bewerber:innen mit Schwerpunkt auf Naturwissenschaften, Ingenieurwesen und Mathematik. Stipendien werden für den Zeitraum August 2027 bis Juli 2028 vergeben.

Einreichfrist: 3. August 2026.

ENGAGE.EU Forschungskollaborationsplattform

Die neue ENGAGE.EU Forschungskollaborationsplattform erleichtert die Zusammenarbeit und Vernetzung von Forschenden der zehn Partneruniversitäten sowie den Austausch von Beiträgen, Veranstaltungen und Neuigkeiten. Forschende der HSG können ein Konto erstellen, um über internationale und interdisziplinäre Forschungsmöglichkeiten informiert zu bleiben.

Forschende der HSG sind eingeladen, an einem Einführungswebinar zur Plattform teilzunehmen. Die Veranstaltung stellt die wichtigsten Funktionen vor und beantwortet offene Fragen.

Dear Evelyn Höfer,

In our March newsletter, we mentioned the changes to the eligibility windows for the ERC Starting Grant and Consolidator Grant from 2027 onwards. The information on the new eligibility windows contained an error: rather than 5 to 10 years after PhD, applications for an ERC Consolidator Grant can now be submitted 5 to 15 years after completing a PhD. We apologise for the error.

The Federal Council has launched three new National Research Programmes: NRP 85 “Mental Health of Adolescents”, NRP 86 “Digital Resilience” and NRP 87 “Deglobalisation and Resilience”. From mid 2026, calls for proposals for the individual projects will be published via the Swiss National Science Foundation. Further information is available on the SNSF website.

1. Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF)

Reforms in SNSF Career Funding

The SNSF is reviewing its Career Funding and has announced that it will replace Postdoc.Mobility and Ambizione with a new funding scheme from 2028. Details will be announced later this year. The first call is scheduled to open in January 2028.

The new scheme is intended to enable early-career researchers to carry out a project independently and in national and international collaboration, thus taking a decisive step forward in their academic careers.

The final call for applications for Ambizione closes on 3 November 2026.

Three more calls for applications under Postdoc.Mobility are scheduled until mid 2027. The next submission deadline has been announced for 4 August 2026.

Agora – Submission deadline postponed

Agora supports communication projects that promote exchanges between science and society. For the Agora Call (budget up to CHF 200,000), the submission deadline has been postponed from September 2026 to early 2027. The SNSF plans to introduce a rolling submission process with no fixed deadline. Further information will follow in the coming months.

For the Agora Rolling Call (budget up to CHF 50,000), projects can still be submitted at any time.

Joint call with Australia in the field of AI-supported healthcare

As part of the bilateral programme with Australia, the SNSF and the National Health and Medical Research Council are launching a joint call for proposals on AI-supported healthcare for underrepresented populations. Projects run for exactly four years with a maximum of CHF 400,000 funding for the Swiss project part funded by the SNSF. Proposals must be submitted to both funding agencies.

2. European funding

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026

The call for MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026 is open. The programme supports the innovative and creative development of researchers and their international, interdisciplinary and intersectoral mobility. Researchers from all disciplines are eligible to jointly apply with partners from the academic or non-academic sector. European Postdoctoral Fellowships enable researchers of any nationality to carry out a fellowship of 12 to 24 months in Europe. Global Fellowships offer European researchers the opportunity to undertake a research stay outside the EU with a mandatory return phase of 12 months.

MSCA Spotlight on the Postdoctoral Fellowships Call 2026

Potential applicants in the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships Programme with a Swiss host institution are invited to the Spotlight event. Successful applicants and experts from the Euresearch network support the event and are available to answer questions.

Euresearch additionally offers sessions in five Swiss cities for Writing Trainings in the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships Call. Further details and registration option can be found here.

MSCA Spotlight on the Doctoral Networks Call 2026

Euresearch invites potential applicants in the MSCA Doctoral Networks Call 2026 based in Switzerland to an online information event. The event will present the key features and novelties of the call and offers the opportunity to exchange on open questions with experienced coordinators.

ERC Grants: Swiss National Information Events

In the March Newsletter we informed about the ERC Plus Grant. Euresearch offers an information event for potential Swiss applicants in the ERC Plus Grant with an overview of eligibility rules, evaluation process and requirements, with a particular focus on the "Statement of Vision".

Information event: 30 April 2026, 12:15-13:30.

The network is organising an information session on the ERC Advanced Grant, featuring a representative from the ERC Executive Agency and successful applicants. The session will cover the terms of the current 2026 call, as well as tips and advice on submitting applications.

From Theory to Practice: Mastering Horizon Europe Collaborative Project Proposals

Euresearch offers a two-part training to strengthen collaborative Horizon Europe Pillar 2 proposals. In the first part, participants work through the theoretical foundations using videos. The second part takes place as an in-person session in Bern and includes hands-on exercises on topics such as AI in proposal writing, pathways to impact and risk management.

3. Innosuisse

Eureka Biotech Call

The Eureka Biotech Call supports international projects with a clear innovation content and implementation plan in biotech areas such as medicine, bioinformatics, pharmaceutical products and services, digitalisation and bioprocess technology. Consortia must include at least two organisations from two of the participating countries. Applications must be submitted both via the Eureka platform and the Innosuisse application platform.

Global Innovation Summit 2026

The Swiss Eureka Chair represented by Innosuisse invites to the Global Innovation Summit 2026 in Basel. The event offers the opportunity to build international partnerships, explore funding opportunities in over 40 countries and kick off joint innovation projects. The focus is on matchmaking and exchange between science, industry and innovation promotion organisations. Participation is free of charge. Prior registration is mandatory.

Registration deadline: 3 May 2026.

Event: 6 May 2026.

4. Other funding opportunities

Women in Finance Scholarship

The Women in Finance Scholarship awards talented women in finance with a scholarship of USD 20,000. Eligible candidates are women enrolled in a Master's or PhD programme with less than ten years of work experience and less than five years of experience in finance. The scholarship is aimed at those pursuing a career in asset management, risk management, fixed income or derivatives.

Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences: Prix Média Awards 2026

The Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences announce the following three awards:

• The Prix Média honours excellent science journalism in print, audio or video formats and is endowed with CHF 10,000.
• The Prix MultiMédia recognises innovative forms of storytelling using data visualisation, animation, virtual reality or other multimedia methods and is also endowed with CHF 10,000.
• Prix Média Newcomer: Students, young researchers, young journalists and other interested parties (up to the age of 35) are invited to submit project ideas. A jury will select the three most original projects and award grants of CHF 3,000 to realise them within three months. The winner of the Prix Média Newcomer will be chosen in a public voting and will receive CHF 3,000.

BBVA Foundation: Frontiers of Knowledge Awards

The 19th edition of the Frontiers of Knowledge Awards of the BBVA Foundation recognises outstanding research and artistic creation across eight categories: Basic Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics); Biology and Biomedicine; Information and Communication Technologies; Climate Change and Environmental Sciences; Economics, Finance and Management, Humanities; Social Sciences; Music and Opera. Nominations can be submitted by universities, research centres, hospitals and artistic and cultural institutions.

Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program is open to researchers, from Swiss academic institutions and offers stays of three to ten months at a US higher education institution. Funded activities include postdoctoral research, lecturing and combined teaching and research stays. Candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree from universities of applied sciences as well as candidates focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are particularly encouraged to apply. Grants are available for the period August 2027 to July 2028.

5. News at HSG

ENGAGE.EU research collaboration platform

The new ENGAGE.EU research collaboration platform facilitates collaboration and networking among researchers of the ten partner universities, as well as sharing inspiring articles, events and news. Researchers from HSG can make an account in order to stay up-to-date on international and interdisciplinary research opportunities.

Researchers from HSG are invited to join an introductory webinar on the platform. The session will introduce the main functions and provide the opportunity to ask questions.
