In der Mai-Ausgabe unseres Newsletters möchten wir Sie auf die Möglichkeit hinweisen, mit einem Mandat im Forschungsrat des Schweizerischen Nationalfonds die Schweizer Forschungslandschaft aktiv mitzugestalten. Ab 2027 sucht der SNF neue Mitglieder in allen Komitees.

Ausserdem möchten wir Sie auf die Ankündigung von Innosuisse und armasuisse aufmerksam machen, einen gemeinsamen Call zu Dual-Use-Technologien zu lancieren. Im Newsletter erfahren Sie bereits jetzt mehr über die Grundzüge und Rahmenbedingungen des kommenden Calls.

1. Schweizerischer Nationalfonds (SNF)

Ausschreibung für neue Mitglieder des Forschungsrats

Der Forschungsrat des SNF nimmt eine zentrale Rolle in der Schweizer Forschungslandschaft ein. Fünf Programmkomitees und ein Policy-Komitee mit jeweils 10-25 Mitgliedern sind für die strategische Entwicklung und Förderpolitik sowie die Evaluationsverfahren des SNF zuständig. Je nach Komitee werden zwei bis fünf vierjährige Mandate vergeben, welche im April oder Oktober 2027 beginnen. Für eine Bewerbung sind die jeweils spezifischen Ausschreibungsbedingungen der Komitees zu berücksichtigen.

Einreichfrist: 14. Juni 2026.

Informationsveranstaltung zu Postdoc.Mobility

Die Postdoc.Mobility-Stipendien ermöglichen Forschenden nach dem Doktorat einen Forschungsaufenthalt im Ausland von bis zu 24 Monaten. Anschliessend kann ein Rückkehrbeitrag von 3 bis 12 Monaten beantragt werden.

Der SNF organisiert eine Online-Infoveranstaltung mit Q&A-Session zur aktuellen Ausschreibung mit Einreichfrist am 4. August 2026. Eine Registrierung ist über den untenstehenden Link möglich.

Scientific Exchanges

Mit dem Förderinstrument Scientific Exchanges fördert der SNF wissenschaftliche Konferenzen und Workshops sowie  Forschungsaufenthalte von 1 bis 6 Monaten. Die Förderung von Forschungsaufenthalten ermöglicht sowohl Auslandsaufenthalte von Schweizer Forschenden als auch Aufenthalte ausländischer Forschender in der Schweiz. Antragsberechtigt sind Gesuchstellende mit einem Anstellungsgrad von mindestens 20 Prozent an einer Schweizer Institution. Beiträge für wissenschaftliche Veranstaltungen können auch von Personen ohne Doktorat beantragt werden.

Eine Eingabe ist jederzeit möglich, jedoch mindestens 4 Monate vor Veranstaltung oder Aufenthalt.

3. Innosuisse

Innosuisse und armasuisse: Projektausschreibung im Bereich Dual-Use-Technologien

Innosuisse und das Bundesamt für Rüstung armasuisse lancieren eine gemeinsame Projektausschreibung im Rahmen des Flagship-Förderinstruments zur Stärkung von Forschung und Innovation im Sicherheits- und Verteidigungsbereich. Im Fokus stehen Dual-Use-Technologien mit dem thematischen Fokus auf «Resilient and Secure Technologies for Defence and Mobility». Drei technologische Schwerpunkte sind bereits benannt: resiliente Navigations- und Zeitsynchronisationssysteme, Photonik für Sicherheit und Kommunikation sowie Lösungen zur Erkennung und Abwehr von Drohnen. Antragsberechtigte Konsortien umfassen Schweizer Forschungsinstitutionen und Industriepartner. Die Ausschreibung wird per 1. Juli 2026 veröffentlicht.

Innovation Booster Future Urban Society: Call for Ideas 2026

Der Innovation Booster Future Urban Society sucht Ideen, die soziale Innovationen in den Bereichen Energie und Ernährung von der Nische in die Mitte der Gesellschaft bringen. Im Fokus stehen Ansätze, die den Alltag vieler Menschen konkret verbessern, technische Lösungen mit sozialem Mehrwert verbinden und gemeinsam mit Akteur:innen aus Staat, Markt und Zivilgesellschaft weiterentwickelt werden können.

Frühe Eingaben können ein Feedback zur Weiterentwicklung erhalten.

The Jacobs Foundation: Learning Variability Network Exchange (LEVANTE)

Die Jacobs Foundation lanciert die dritte Ausschreibung im Rahmen des LEVANTE-Netzwerks (Learning Variability Network Exchange). Ziel von LEVANTE ist es zu verstehen, wie individuelle, gruppenbezogene und kontextuelle Variabilität die Lernprozesse und Entwicklung von Kindern beeinflusst. Gesucht werden Projekte mit longitudinaler Datenerhebung anhand der LEVANTE-Kernmessungen bei Kindern im Alter von 3 bis 12 Jahren. Projekte in unterrepräsentierten Weltregionen sind ausdrücklich willkommen.

Leading House Latin America: Consolidation Grant

Der Consolidation Grant des Leading House Latin America fördert nachhaltige Forschungskooperationen zwischen Schweizer und lateinamerikanischen Forschenden aller Disziplinen und dient als Anschubfinanzierung für umfassendere Projekte. Gefördert werden gemeinsame Workshops, Konferenzen und Feldforschung sowie Mobilitätsinitiativen für Postdocs, Doktorierende und Masterstudierende. Anträge werden von Gesuchstellenden beider Regionen gemeinsam gestellt. Eine Online-Veranstaltung bietet Informationen zum aktuellen Call.

Age Innovation Prize

Mit dem Age Innovation Prize des IAF Instituts für Altersforschung in Partnerschaft mit der Age-Stiftung werden innovative Ideen zur Bewältigung der Herausforderungen des Alter(n)s prämiert. Projekte zu technologischen und sozialen Innovationen, welche Selbstständigkeit, soziale Teilhabe, Lebensqualität und Gesundheit älterer Menschen erhöhen, werden zur Bewerbung in einem «Pitch-Deck»-Format eingeladen. Im zweistufigen Auswahlverfahren präsentieren Shortlist-Kandidat:innen ihre Innovationen im Pitch vor einer Jury.

Leading House MENA: Research Partnership Grants

Die Research Partnership Grants des Leading House MENA fördern Kooperationen zwischen Forschenden aller Disziplinen in der Schweiz und in Partnerländern im mittleren Osten und Nordafrika. Pro Förderung stehen bis zu 25'000 CHF zur Verfügung, mit denen entweder neue gemeinsame Projekte lanciert oder bestehende Initiativen konsolidiert werden können. Insgesamt werden rund 10 Projekte ausgewählt. Antragstellende müssen eine Anstellung an einer berechtigten Institution sowie mindestens drei Jahre Forschungserfahrung nachweisen. Die Ausschreibung öffnet in Kürze.

Fellowships am Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg

Das Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg vergibt Junior und Regular Fellowships an herausragende Forschende aller Disziplinen und Karrierestufen. Fellowships dauern 3 bis 10 Monate, ein Aufenthalt am Kolleg in Delmenhorst (DE) ist während der gesamten Dauer erforderlich.

In the May edition of our newsletter, we would like to draw your attention to the opportunity to play an active role in shaping the Swiss research landscape by taking up a mandate on the Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation. From 2027, the SNSF will be seeking new members for all its committees.

We would also like to inform you about the announcement by Innosuisse and armasuisse who are launching a joint call on dual-use technologies. In this newsletter, you can already find out more about some of the key principles and framework conditions of the upcoming call.

1. Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF)

Call for new members of the Research Council

The Research Council of the SNSF plays a central role in the Swiss research landscape. Five programme committees and a policy committee, each comprising 10–25 members, are responsible for the SNSF’s strategic development, funding policy and evaluation procedures. Depending on the committee, two to five four-year mandates will be appointed, commencing in April or October 2027.

Applicants must take into account the specific call conditions of the respective committees.

Submission deadline: 14 June 2026.

Information event on Postdoc.Mobility

The Postdoc Mobility Grants enable postdoctoral researchers to undertake a research stay abroad for up to 24 months. Following this, an application may be made for a return grant covering a period of 3 to 12 months.

The SNSF is organising an online information session with a Q&A session on the current call for proposals, with a submission deadline of 4 August 2026. Registration is possible via the link below.

Scientific Exchanges

Through the Scientific Exchanges funding scheme, the SNSF supports scientific conferences and workshops as well as research stays lasting 1 to 6 months. Funding for research stays is available for both Swiss researchers travelling abroad and foreign researchers visiting Switzerland. Applicants with a minimum employment of 20 percent at a Swiss institution are eligible to apply. Grants for scientific events may also be applied for by persons without a doctorate.

Applications may be submitted at any time but must be made at least four months before the event or stay.

2. European funding

ENGAGE.EU Research Label

The ENGAGE.EU Research Label supports collaborative research initiatives within the ENGAGE.EU alliance and is open to researchers at all career stages, including PhD students. Funding targets small-scale, time-limited bottom-up projects involving at least three ENGAGE.EU partner universities and addressing at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

3. Innosuisse

Innosuisse and armasuisse: Call for Projects in the field of Dual-Use Technologies

Innosuisse and the Federal Office for Defence Procurement armasuisse are launching a joint call for projects under the Flagship programme to strengthen research and innovation in the fields of security and defence. The focus is on dual-use technologies, with a thematic focus on “Resilient and Secure Technologies for Defence and Mobility”.Three key technology areas are already announced: resilient navigation and time synchronisation systems, photonics for security and communication, and solutions for detecting and countering drones. Eligible Consortia involve Swiss research institutions and industrial partners.

Innovation Booster Future Urban Society: Call for Ideas 2026

The Innovation Booster Future Urban Society is looking for ideas that bring social innovations in the fields of energy and food from the niche into the center of society. The focus is on approaches that make a tangible difference to the daily lives of many people, combine technical solutions with social value and can be further developed in collaboration with stakeholders from government, the private sector and civil society.

Early submissions can receive feedback for further development.

The Jacobs Foundation: Learning Variability Network Exchange (LEVANTE)

The Jacobs Foundation is launching the third call for proposals under the LEVANTE framework (Learning Variability Network Exchange). The overarching objective of LEVANTE is to identify how individual, group and contextual variability influence children's learning and development.

The call seeks proposals for research projects that collect longitudinal data using the LEVANTE core measurements across ages 3 to 12. Projects in underrepresented regions are particularly encouraged.

Submission deadline: 10 June 2026.

Leading House Latin America: Consolidation Grant

The Consolidation Grant of the Leading House Latin America promotes sustainable research cooperation between Swiss and Latin American scholars of all disciplines and provides a solid impulse to prepare larger applications. Funding covers collective workshops, conferences and fieldwork as well as mobility initiatives for postdocs, PhD students and MA students. Applications are submitted jointly by applicants from both regions. An online session provides information on the current call.

Submission deadline: 31 July 2026.

Age Innovation Prize

The Age Innovation Prize of the Institute for Ageing Research IAF in partnership with the Age-Foundation honours innovative ideas dealing with the challenges of age(ing). Technological as well as social innovation projects that promote independence, social inclusion, quality of life and health of older people are invited to apply in a “Pitch-Deck”-Format. In the two-stage selection process, shortlisted candidates present their innovations in a pitch to a jury.

Submission deadline: 14 June 2026.

Leading House MENA: Research Partnership Grants

The Research Partnership Grants of the Leading House MENA strengthen collaboration between researchers from all disciplines based in Switzerland and in partner countries in the Middle East and North Africa. Each grant provides up to CHF 25,000 to support either the launch of new joint projects or the consolidation of existing initiatives. A total of approximately 10 projects will be selected. Applicants must hold a position at an eligible institution and demonstrate at least three years of research experience. The call will open soon.

Submission deadline: 23 June 2026.

Fellowships at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg

The Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg awards Junior and Regular fellowships to outstanding researchers from all disciplines and career stages. Fellowships last 3 to 10 months, and residence at the college in Delmenhorst (GER) is mandatory throughout the entire duration.
