In dieser Ausgabe unseres Newsletters möchten wir Sie auf die zusätzliche Ausschreibung für einen Nationalen Forschungsschwerpunkt (NFS) mit Fokus auf den Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften aufmerksam machen, mit der der Bund die Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften gezielt stärkt.

Daneben finden Sie wie gewohnt aktuelle Förderangebote und Informationsveranstaltungen von SNF, EU und Innosuisse.

1. Schweizerischer Nationalfonds (SNF)

NFS für Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften

Die Nationalen Forschungsschwerpunkte (NFS) zählen zu den wichtigsten Instrumenten des Bundes zur langfristigen Stärkung strategisch bedeutsamer Forschungsfelder. Nachdem im Januar 2026 sechs neue NFS lanciert wurden, von denen keiner einen primären Fokus auf den Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften (GSW) hat, wurden nun Mittel für einen zusätzlichen NFS mit Schwerpunkt GSW bereitgestellt. Dieser sollte an zwei Schweizerischen Institutionen verankert sein. Der SNF veröffentlicht spätestens am 6. Juli 2026 das Auswahlverfahren samt detailliertem Zeitplan und organisiert gemeinsam mit dem SBFI eine Online-Infoveranstaltung. Absichtserklärungen sind Anfang September 2026 einzureichen, Projektskizzen in der zweiten Oktoberhälfte.

Postdoc.Mobility

Postdoc.Mobility-Stipendien richten sich an Wissenschaftler:innen nach dem Doktorat, die einen Forschungsaufenthalt im Ausland durchführen möchten. Ziel ist es, Wissen zu vertiefen und das wissenschaftliche Netzwerk mit Blick auf eine zukünftige wissenschaftliche oder akademische Laufbahn in der Schweiz zu stärken.

Swiss Quantum

Mit dem Swiss Quantum Call 2026 stärkt der SNF im Rahmen der Schweizer Quanteninitiative (SQI) die Quantenforschung in der Schweiz. Gefördert werden wissenschaftlich exzellente Projekte in den Bereichen Quantenkommunikation, Quantencomputing, Quantensimulation sowie Quantensensorik und -Metrologie sowie Vorhaben, die methodisch oder technologisch wesentlich zu deren Entwicklung beitragen. Der Fokus liegt auf Projekten mit niedrigem bis mittlerem technologischem Reifegrad und klarem gesellschaftlichen und technologischen Nutzen. Beteiligung und Leitung durch Nachwuchsforschende wird ausdrücklich begrüsst.

ERC Starting Grant 2027: Swiss National Info Event

Die Online-Infoveranstaltung zum ERC Starting Grant 2027 richtet sich an Nachwuchsforschende, die bereits exzellente betreute Arbeiten vorweisen können und bereit sind, eigenständig zu forschen. Teilnehmende erhalten Tipps und Ratschläge einer Person, die mit dem Starting-Grant gefördert wurde, und eines Panel-Mitglieds sowie zentrale Informationen zu den Grundzügen und Bedingungen der Ausschreibung 2027 durch die ERC Executive Agency.

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships Applicants Trainings 2026

Für die Ausschreibung der MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026 werden in fünf Schweizer Städten Präsenz-Trainings für Antragstellende angeboten. Diese finden zwischen Ende Juni und Mitte Juli statt. Die Trainings richten sich ausschliesslich an Antragstellende mit einer Schweizer Gastinstitution. Für diejenigen, die sich mit einer Schweizer Gastinstitution bewerben, aber nicht vor Ort teilnehmen können, steht ein Online-Tutorial zur Verfügung.

ERC Starting and Consolidator Grants 2027: Masterclass on Proposal Writing

Potenzielle Antragstellende für einen ERC Starting Grant oder Consolidator Grant mit einer Gastinstitution in der Schweiz sind zur Masterclass on Proposal Writing eingeladen, die Tipps und Ratschläge zum Aufbau und zur Formulierung des Gesuchs vermittelt. Die Schweizer Nationale Kontaktstelle für den ERC gibt einen systematischen Überblick über Teil I und Teil II des Antrags – mit konkreten Empfehlungen zu beiden Teilen, basierend auf ihrer langjährigen Erfahrung mit ERC-Grants.

Horizon Europe To Go

Mit einem neuen Livestream-Format behandelt Euresearch aktuelle Horizon Europe-Themen gemeinsam mit den National Contact Points in jeweils nur 10 Minuten. Aufzeichnungen aller bisherigen Sessions sind in einer YouTube-Playlist verfügbar. Behandelt wurden bisher unter anderem Circular Economy in Horizon Europe, MSCA PR Support for Applicants und SSH Integration in Horizon Europe Projects.

3. Innosuisse

BRIDGE Proof of Concept

BRIDGE Proof of Concept richtet sich an junge Forschende, die ihre Forschungsergebnisse in konkrete Anwendungen umsetzen möchten. Dieses Förderangebot bietet eine finanzielle Unterstützung über einen Zeitraum von zwölf Monaten. Die Gesuchstellenden müssen kürzlich eine Hochschulausbildung abgeschlossen haben und einer schweizerischen Forschungsinstitution angeschlossen sein.

Innovationsprojekte mit Umsetzungspartner

Mit dem Förderangebot Innovationsprojekte mit Umsetzungspartner finanziert Innosuisse wissenschaftsbasierte Innovationsprojekte aller Themengebiete mit. Diese werden von einem Umsetzungspartner, etwa KMU, Grossunternehmen, Start-ups, Verwaltungen oder Non-Profit-Organisationen, gemeinsam mit einem Forschungspartner aus einer Schweizer Forschungsinstitution durchgeführt. Ziel ist die gemeinsame Entwicklung neuartiger Produkte, Dienstleistungen oder Prozesse.

EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship

EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization) Postdoctoral Fellowships unterstützen exzellente Postdoktorierende in ganz Europa und weltweit für einen Zeitraum von bis zu zwei Jahren. Gefördert werden Forschende aus dem Bereich der Lebenswissenschaften.

CYD Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships

Die CYD Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships richten sich an Forschende, die sich mit Querschnittthemen der Cyberabwehr beschäftigen. Das Fellowship beinhaltet Gehalt sowie Forschungs- und Konferenzmittel für zwei Jahre, in denen Forschende mit der Unterstützung einer:s Professor:in einer Schweizer Hochschule ein Projekt am CYD-Campus durchführen können. Der Auswahlprozess erfolgt zweistufig.

Workshop: Budgetierung und Abrechnung von SNF, EU und Innosuisse Projekten

Der Workshop vermittelt einen Überblick zur Budgetierung und Abrechnung von SNF, EU und Innosuisse Projekten in allen Kategorien (Projekte und Programme, Karriere und Wissenschaftskommunikation). Er wird vom Grants Office St.Gallen und der Abteilung für Finanz- & Rechnungswesen der Universität St.Gallen durchgeführt. Workshopsprache ist Deutsch. Für den Q&A-Teil des Workshops bitten wir Sie, Ihre Fragen gerne bereits mit der Anmeldung zu schicken.

Forschungszusammenarbeit zwischen der Universität St.Gallen und HOCH: Ausschreibung 2026 zur Förderung von Kollaborationsprojekten

Gefördert werden Kollaborationsprojekte von HOCH Health Ostschweiz mit der Universität St.Gallen im Bereich der Gesundheitswissenschaften, welche Elemente der wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen der Universität und der medizinischen Versorgung verbindet. Förderbeiträge für Kollaborationsprojekte werden in der Höhe von maximal 25'000 CHF pro beteiligte Institution und Projekt vergeben (max. Förderbeitrag 50'000 CHF). Der Antrag muss bei der Forschungskommission der Universität St.Gallen und der Forschungskommission HOCH Health Ostschweiz parallel eingegeben werden.

Neuregelung Overhead & Erfolgsprämien

Das Rektorat hat die Bestimmungen zum Overhead und zu den Erfolgsprämien für kompetitive Forschungsmittel bei SNF, EU und Innosuisse auf 1. Januar 2027 neu geregelt. Hierbei erhöht die Universitätsleitung die Investitionen in die Forschung und stärkt die Anreize für die Einwerbung von Drittmitteln. SNF-, EU- und Innosuisse-Projekte können aufgrund von Übergangsregelungen bereits im zweiten Halbjahr 2026 profitieren.

1. Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF)

NCCR for social sciences and humanities

The National Centres of Competence in Research (NCCRs) are among the Federal Government's key instruments for strengthening strategically important research fields over the long term. Following the launch of six new NCCRs in January 2026, none of which has a primary focus on the social sciences and humanities (SSH), funding is provided for an additional NCCR centred on the SSH. This NCCR should be anchored at two home institutions. By 6 July 2026 at the latest, the SNSF will publish the selection procedure together with a detailed timeline and, jointly with SERI, host an online information event. Letters of intent are due in early September 2026, proposal outlines are scheduled for the second half of October.

Postdoc.Mobility

Postdoc.Mobility fellowships are aimed at researchers who have done a doctorate and who wish to conduct a research stay abroad. The objective is to enable them to acquire more in-depth knowledge and to extend their scientific network, in view of a future scientific or academic career in Switzerland.

Swiss Quantum

With the Swiss Quantum Call 2026, the SNSF is strengthening quantum research in Switzerland as part of the Swiss Quantum Initiative (SQI). The call funds scientifically excellent, curiosity-driven projects in the fields of quantum communication, quantum computation, quantum simulation, and quantum sensing and quantum metrology, as well as projects that contribute substantially to their methodological or technological development. The focus is on projects at a low to intermediate Technology Readiness Level with clear societal and technological benefit. The involvement and leadership of early-career researchers is explicitly encouraged.

ERC Starting Grant 2027: Swiss National Info Event

Early-career scientist who have already produced excellent supervised work and are ready to work independently are invited to join an online information event about the ERC Starting Grant 2027, which will provide tips and advice from a Starting Grant grantee and Panel Member, as well as essential information on the principles and conditions of the 2027 call from the ERC Executive Agency.

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships Applicants Trainings 2026

Onsite Applicants Trainings are offered in five Swiss cities for the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships call 2026. They take place between end of June and mid-July. The trainings are exclusively for applicants submitting a proposal with a Swiss host institution. For those who apply with a Swiss host, but can't join onsite, an Online Tutorial is available.

ERC Starting and Consolidator Grants 2027: Masterclass on Proposal Writing

Potential ERC Starting Grant or Consolidator Grant applicants with a host institution in Switzerland are invited to attend the Masterclass on Proposal Writing to get tips and advice for structuring and writing their proposal. The Swiss National Contact Points for the ERC will lead the session, giving a systematic overview of both Part I and Part II of the proposal with advice for each, based on their years of experience with ERC grants.

Horizon Europe To Go

Euresearch has a new live-streaming format, in which timely Horizon Europe topics are discussed by the National Contact Points in just 10 minutes. 3. Innosuisse

BRIDGE Proof of Concept

BRIDGE Proof of Concept is aimed at young researchers who are hoping to transform the results of their research into practical applications. This support offer provides financial support for a period of 12 months. Applicants must have recently graduated from university and be affiliated with a Swiss research institution.

Innovation Projects with Implementation Partner

Through the funding offer Innovation Projects with Implementation Partner, Innosuisse co-finances science-based innovation projects across all thematic areas. They are carried out by an implementation partner, such as SMEs, large companies, start-ups, administrative bodies or non-profit organisations, jointly with a research partner from a Swiss research institution. The aim is to develop innovative products, services or processes together.

EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships

EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization) Postdoctoral Fellowships support excellent postdoctoral researchers throughout Europe and the world for a period of up to two years. Funding is available for researchers from the life sciences.

CYD Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships

The CYD Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships are aimed at researchers working on cross-cutting issues in cyber-defence. The fellowship includes salary , research funds and conference funds for two years, during which researchers can carry out a project under the endorsement of a professor from a Swiss higher education institution at the CYD campus. The selection process is two-stage.

Workshop: budgeting and accounting of SNF, EU and Innosuisse research projects

The workshop provides an overview of the budgeting and accounting of SNSF, EU and Innosuisse projects across all categories (projects and programmes, careers, science communication). It is run by the Grants Office St.Gallen and the University of St.Gallen Finance and Accounting department. The workshop will be held in German. For the Q&A part, we kindly ask you to submit your questions upon registration.

Research collaboration between the University St.Gallen and HOCH: Call for proposals for 2026 for collaboration projects

Funding is provided for collaboration projects between HOCH Health Ostschweiz and the University of St.Gallen in the field of health sciences that combine elements of the scientific disciplines of the University of St.Gallen and medical care. A maximum of CHF 25,000 per participating institution and project (max. funding contribution of CHF 50’000) is granted. The application must be submitted in parallel to the Research Committee of the University of St.Gallen and the Research Committee HOCH Health Ostschweiz.

Overhead & Success Fees: new regulations

The HSG President's Board has revised the regulations regarding overhead and success fees for competitive research funding from SNSF, EU, and Innosuisse, effective January 1, 2027. In doing so, the university management is increasing investments in research and strengthening incentives for acquiring third-party funding. Due to transitional rules, SNSF, EU, and Innosuisse projects can already benefit from these changes in the second half of 2026.
