Fingrid has published a summary of the feedback received from our consultation on preliminary grid connection possibilities for offshore wind power, along with our responses to the feedback. The stakeholder feedback emphasised the number and location of connection possibilities. Based on the feedback and additional investigations, an updated report will be published in late autumn 2024, naming the preliminary connection possibilities at the substation level.

The Aurora Line transmission link is the most important investment in the main grid this decade. It will increase the transmission capacity from Northern Sweden to Finland by 800 megawatts and from Finland to Northern Sweden by 900 megawatts.

Fingrid to raise grid service fees at the start of 2025


Due to the electricity system expanding and becoming more challenging to manage, the transmission system operator Fingrid will raise its fees for grid services by eight per cent from the start of 2025. The increase is necessitated by investments in the main grid and the growing costs of managing the electricity system.

The Nordic Transmission System Operators (TSOs) Fingrid, Energinet, Statnett and Svenska kraftnät have prepared and published updated Nordic TSO strategy. The strategy describes the recent changes in the operational environment and presents the strategic themes where the TSOs will work together in the coming years. The strategy also includes a concrete implementation plan for the TSOs.

Tender for frequency containment reserves for 2025


Fingrid organizes annual market tender for Frequency Containment Reserve for Normal Operation (FCR-N) and the Frequency Containment Reserve for Disturbances maintenance for the period 1.1.2025–31.12.2025. Bid must be submitted to Fingrid at latest 27.9.2024 16.00 (EET).
