Fingrid and Svenska kraftnät initiate planning for Fenno-Skan 3 submarine cable between Finland and Sweden

Fingrid and Svenska kraftnät have signed a Letter of Intent to begin planning Fenno-Skan 3, a new 800 MW submarine electricity link between Finland and Sweden. Scheduled for completion by 2038, it will replace the aging Fenno-Skan 1 and raise total capacity to 1600 MW.

Fingrid Commits to Significant Reductions in Greenhouse Gas Emissions


Fingrid’s greenhouse gas reduction targets have been officially approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company commits to cutting its direct emissions (Scope 1) by 42% and indirect emissions (Scope 2) by 53% from 2022 levels by 2030. It also aims to reduce Scope 3 emissions—mainly from material procurement—by 25%. These targets align with the 1.5°C global warming limit.

Fingrid’s CFO Jukka Metsälä has resigned


Fingrid Oyj’s Chief Financial Officer, M.Sc., MBA Jukka Metsälä has given notice that he will be stepping down from his role in the company. His last day on the job is 31 July 2025. Metsälä will become Managing Director of CableCrew Oy as of 1 August 2025.
