SUSTAINABILITY

EUROPEAN POLYMER DISPERSION AND LATEX ASSOCIATION (EPDLA)

Founded in 1991, the European Polymer Dispersion and Latex Association (EPDLA) - part of the Specialty Chemicals Sector Group of the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic)- is dedicated to promoting the safe production, transport, distribution, handling, and use of water-based polymer dispersions and the redispersible powders derived from them, in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines.
The mission of EPDLA is to promote, at the European Union level, the position of the water-based polymer dispersion industry in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.
EPDLA members are committed to adhering to the principles of
Responsible Care® and have accordingly implemented risk management measures.
On 15 and 16 April 2026, VINAVIL participated - with Dr. Fabio Abbà, Regulatory Affairs Manager - in the EPDLA General Assembly, held in Brussels at the CEFIC headquarters, Rue Belliard 40.

VINAVIL AND CNR IBE: A WINNING PARTNERSHIP

"There can be no successful future for companies and for the country if we are unable to put the relationship between public and private research in order.”

(Address by Giorgio Squinzi at the CNR, May 4, 2012, reported byIl Sole 24 Ore)

Always at the forefront in fostering synergy between public and private research, Vinavil, part of the Mapei Group, has long believed in collaboration with the CNR for the development and innovation of technological systems designed to support the technical solutions offered across its product range for specific application sectors.
The best example of this commitment is the long-standing collaboration between Vinavil and CNR-IBE, the National Research Council – Institute for BioEconomy (formerly IVALSA), in particular thanks to the valuable contribution of Eng. Benedetto Pizzo.
A few years ago, CNR-IBE absorbed the activities of IVALSA, the Institute for the Enhancement of Wood and Tree Species, and today represents an Italian center of excellence recognized worldwide in the wood sector.
Vinavil holds approximately 20% of the European market share for polymers sold in the wood adhesives sector. The growth and consolidation of this specific segment have also been achieved thanks to collaboration with research institutes such as CNR-IBE. This cooperation has enabled the development of important projects, including: the understanding of glue-line discoloration phenomena when using D3 adhesives on wood substrates; the study of bonding parameters for wood joints using polyvinyl adhesives through the application of radio frequency technology; the development of a methodology for the objective determination of the percentage of material removed from wood; the development of a rapid creep testing method for evaluating the mechanical properties of wood joints; the application of DMA (Dynamic Mechanical Analysis) techniques and their correlation with standard methods for evaluating wood adhesives.
More recently, the contribution of CNR-IBE has made it possible to further consolidate innovative technical solutions in the wood-based panels sector.
In particular, we would like to highlight the new product range specifically developed for the production of Class 1 and Class 2 plywood panels: Vinavil PW 195, 196, 295, 296, and 191. Please do not hesitate to contact our technical departments to learn more about the product range and application details.
