PRODUCTS

VINAVIL PW (PLYWOOD) FORMALDEHYDE-FREE ADHESIVES

The plywood industry faces increasing pressure to comply with stricter environmental regulations, prioritizing the need for adhesives that are formaldehyde-free and compliant with both U.S. and European standards for safer, greener manufacturing.
Vinavil PW represents a next-generation range of formaldehyde-free plywood adhesives designed to meet the evolving demands of the plywood manufacturing industry. Developed in compliance with the latest U.S. (CARB, TSCA) and European (REACH, E1/E0) regulations, the PW range offers superior adhesion, enhanced process efficiency, and long-term stability, while eliminating the risks associated with traditional adhesives. PW 195 and PW 196 offer the flexibility to adapt to a variety of processing conditions across different plants, depending on veneer quality and equipment requirements.
Vinavil’s formaldehyde-free polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) adhesives mark a significant step forward in the plywood manufacturing industry, addressing both environmental concerns and the need for high-performance bonding solutions. These innovative adhesives not only meet stringent environmental standards but also deliver excellent bonding strength and versatility across various wood species and pressing conditions. Their extended pot life and open time improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and generate cost savings by eliminating the need for expensive ventilation systems required by conventional adhesives.
By offering a non-toxic alternative to urea-formaldehyde adhesives, Vinavil’s products contribute to safer working environments and help manufacturers align with global sustainability goals—positioning them advantageously in a market increasingly driven by regulatory compliance and consumer demand for eco-friendly products.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON WOOD ADHESIVES

The International Conference on Wood Adhesives is the premier technical conference on advances in the adhesion of wood and biomass. Industry representatives were the majority of the nearly 300 attendees evenly split between the U.S. and the rest of the world.
For adhesive supplier or user or user of the downstream product, for industry, academia, government, this conference provides a unique opportunity to be updated on solid technical knowledge about glued wood products thanks to the recruitment of the best technical thinkers in the field of wood adhesives.
VINAVIL sponsored the event and had the opportunity to spread to the experts the novelties on polymers used in wood application. Our staff welcomed all the attendees to the small stand where was clearly visible that “Wood likes Vinavil”
Our wood technologist expert Paolo Lavisci had an excellent speech in the congress:
Breakthrough Solutions for High-Performance PVAc-Based Plywood Adhesives.

EVENTS

VINAVIL’S TRAINING WEEK

From September 29 to October 2, Vinavil held the second edition of its Training Week, an event designed to bring together multiple distributors for a shared visit to our Villadossola plant.
Distributors came from several European countries - the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Germany, and Austria - for a total of 13 participants.

During the various working sessions, attendees were introduced to our new products, corporate strategies, and highlights from Research & Development and Technical Service. Special emphasis was placed on polymerization concepts and the different stages of production cycles, with a focus on sustainability and the growing demand for bio-based products.

The program also included guided tours of the production departments, laboratories, manufacturing site, and the new photovoltaic plant. Participants enjoyed moments of relaxation as well, including an evening boat trip to the Borromean Islands.

Following the success of this initiative, Vinavil will continue in 2026 with two more Training Weeks, one each semester.

SUSTAINABILITY

THE NEW PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT IN VILLADOSSOLA

After several months dedicated to construction and obtaining the necessary operating permits, the Villadossola photovoltaic system has finally been activated and is now producing clean energy!

With a total capacity of 788.64 kWp, the plant will ensure significant energy savings by harnessing the renewable power of the sun.
The adoption of this technology was driven by the need to combine:
• compatibility with architectural and environmental protection requirements;
• zero noise pollution;
• reduced fossil fuel consumption;
• electricity generation without the emission of pollutants.

In addition, the photovoltaic system contributes to reducing the release of polluting substances and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
It is estimated that the plant will allow a 30% reduction in the current electricity drawn from the national grid, while the energy it produces will cover about 7% of the site’s total electricity demand.

The project was completed by utilizing an area of the site that could not have been used for any other purpose.
