EVENTS

VINAVIL FOR STUDENTS

In April, an important company project, launched at the beginning of January, was concluded with a couple of high schools in the Verbano Cusio Ossola area: “Marconi-Galletti-Einaudi” in Domodossola and “Cobianchi” in Verbania. The project aimed to guide students’ towards the world of work, while at the same time introducing them to our production environment.

The first event included two orientation sessions organized for 5th-year classes, with a training focus on writing a CV and preparing for a job interview.

The second event, more hands-on, involved a visit to our R&D and TS&D laboratories in Villadossola, followed by two separate activities for each school. It was agreed with the Marconi-Galletti-Einaudi Institute to plan work-based learning programs at the end of the school year, while students from the 4th-year chemistry track at the Cobianchi Institute in Verbania completed a project work assigned to them. It was focused on the reduction and measurement of residual monomers in polymer dispersions and on the technical evaluation of certain formulations for paints and wood adhesives.

The results of the projects were presented on April 2, with a detailed presentation of the activities carried out over approximately two months during laboratory class hours. This was an experience in which the students showed great interest and commitment - certainly one to be repeated in the years to come!

ART

 A 17TH-CENTURY PAINTING SHINES AGAIN

The restoration of a 17th-century painting dedicated to the Holy Spirit - severely damaged by humidity and time - has recently been completed:

- the hemp canvas showed two holes, large frayed areas, and missing color;

- the walnut wood frame was worm-eaten and weakened;

- The upper ground layer had decayed.

Thanks to a meticulous intervention, the painting has been restored to its integrity:

  • Consolidation and revitalization of the colors with Crilat 4768
  • Gesso preparation with Vinavil EVA 2607 and traditional materials
  • Filling of gaps and pictorial reintegration with a final protective varnish based on Vinavil Crilat 4768 and 4830 acrylic resins
  • Restoration and reinforcement of the frame, treated against woodworms and returned to its original appearance

The result is a work once again stable and legible, ready to be admired and preserved for future generations.

A heartfelt thank-you to Laura Antonietti for her careful work and for choosing Vinavil's products as technical support in this important restoration.
