February 2026

Dear Circular Economy Community,

Welcome back! We're sending out this special edition to tell you about two key developments: more details about our Annual Conference and the Coordination Group Work Programme for 2026-2028.

Firstly, as we announced in our last newsletter,
this year's Annual Conference will take place on 22-23 April in Brussels and will focus on the upcoming Circular Economy Act.

The first day will feature sessions organised by the European Commission and will be oriented towards policy, while the second day will be organised by the European Economic and Social Committee and will be geared more towards implementation on the ground. Our energetic new Coordination Group will be involved in both days, particularly day 2 when they will shape and take part in the sessions. As always, it will be a great opportunity to meet other circular economy practitioners and find out more about current and future legislation governing the circular economy and the challenges and opportunities involved in putting it into practice.

Keep an eye on our webpage where we will publish updates and the registration link. We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!

Secondly, the ECESP's Coordination Group has now finalised its work programme. This document sets out the group's priorities for its current mandate and lists the leadership groups which will help deliver them.

There will be five leadership groups:

  • LG1: Transitioning to circular value chains

  • LG2: Advancing an integrated circular bioeconomy

  • LG3: Enabling an inclusive circular society

  • LG4: Economic and financing instruments for the circular transition

  • LG5: Increasing demand for European circular solutions

You can read all about what each will be focusing on and what it aims to achieve in the work programme. These groups are open to the circular economy community: if you're interested in joining, please complete the EUSurvey questionnaire. Each group is led by one or more Coordination Group members and they will select applicants based on their area of interest, expertise and experience and with a view to a good geographical balance. The work programme is ambitious and the leadership groups are aiming to deliver really meaningful output, so if you're keen to help shape the circular economy, do let us know by means of the EUSurvey questionnaire that you're interested!

Our next edition will be out within the next two weeks, and will provide the usual roundup of news, events, good practices, reports and more. In the meantime, we invite you to read the work programme!

Are you making the circular economy happen? Can your project inspire others? Share your good practice and connect with the circular economy community!
