April 2026

Dear Circular Economy Community,

Welcome back!  We are moving closer to our annual conference on 22-23 April, and interest continues to grow. Demand has been so high that in-person registration is now closed, with a substantial waiting list already in place. If you weren’t able to secure a spot, don’t worry: most sessions will be livestreamed on our website.

It’s a packed and forward-looking agenda. On 22 April, the day organised by the European Commission, the focus will be on the Circular Economy Act, the global dimension, financing circularity and the youth check. On 23 April, stakeholders take centre stage during the day organised by the ECESP Coordination Group. Discussions will focus on implementation, including how stakeholders can engage with the circular economy policy agenda, circular value chains and the EU Bioeconomy Strategy. Have a look at the
full programme!

The European Economic and Social Committee, one of the bodies behind the ECESP, will also be capitalising on the opportunity to collect input for an opinion on
Advancing the circular economy through responsible resource use within planetary boundaries. It will be written by Cillian Lohan, one of the founding fathers of the ECESP, with ECESP co-chair Ladeja Godina Košir contributing her expertise as an advisor. This is a tangible way to ensure that civil society’s perspectives feed into the preparation of the Circular Economy Act, making this yet another compelling reason to take part in the conference!

All in all, two lively days of discussion, debate and networking! We very much look forward to seeing you there.

In other news, our next EU Circular Talk will take place on 28 May, hosted by Circular Change. Under the title
From trade to transformation: EU–Australia circular economy in action, the event will explore how the evolving EU–Australia partnership — shaped by trade negotiations, climate commitments and shifting geopolitics — is becoming a testing ground for the circular economy as a strategic framework. Registration will open shortly – stay tuned!

We have also added a rich selection of events, good practices, toolkits and other resources to our website. European Commission initiatives, calls for proposals and input, a talk on the factory of the future, plenty of events ranging from materials innovation to solutions for water, recycling and circularity, reports and companies driving the circular economy: all of them illustrate just how rich and wide-ranging the circular economy landscape has become!

As always, please do tell us about your own circular activities and initiatives - just fill in the
relevant form or send us an email!
