Settle into your accommodation

Whether you’re living in halls or in private accommodation, understanding what you’re responsible for and how it affects your budget will help you avoid unexpected costs and settle in with confidence.

Look after your health and wellbeing

If you haven’t done so already, we strongly encourage you to register with the King’s NHS Health Centre or another NHS GP (General Practitioner) when you arrive on campus to access health services.

At King’s, we have our own NHS Health Centre that students can join for free. The practice works closely with the University and has extensive experience supporting students through the challenges that can arise during your studies, helping you access the right care and support when you need it.

They also provide a range of specialist services and clinics, from talking therapies and eating disorder support, through to sexual health, travel and vaccinations. They’re based on our Strand Campus, but have new sites opening soon at Guy’s Campus and Denmark Hill Campus as well.

Before starting at King’s, we also advise that you get certain vaccines, as they are the best defence against severe illness. If you’ve already had them, you may need to bring a record when registering with a GP. Find out more on Student Services Online.

You may have heard there has been an increase in cases of measles as well as meningitis and septicaemia in the UK. The best way to protect yourself and prevent the spread of measles is to have two doses of the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine. You’re also recommended to get the MenACWY vaccine to protect yourself from meningitis. Attend your orientation

Celebrate the start of your journey with Welcome sessions from the Global Mobility team, who will be in touch with you about your orientation and schedule of events. Be sure to keep checking your inbox, as these sessions are essential to attend.

Your module selection and timetable

We know you’re excited to start your studies, and receiving your timetable is a key step.

You’ll be able to select your modules and view your timetable once you’ve completed your enrolment at King’s, and you’ll receive an email with instructions on how to enrol no earlier than 30 days before your course start date. This will be sent to the email address you supplied when making your application to study at King’s.

You’ll then receive your personal timetable the week before teaching starts by logging into KCL Timetables using your K number and email password. More information on accessing your timetable and registering for your modules can be found on Student Services Online.

You may also be required to log your attendance using Venio. Venio is King’s digital register for you to record your attendance during timetabled sessions, with the exception of the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences (FoDOCS).
