Complete enrolment

If you haven’t already, you’ll soon receive an email with initial instructions on how to complete enrolment, which has four main stages:

  • Stage 1: Online enrolment
  • Stage 2: Essential training. Within Student Records, go to ‘My Training’ on the right-hand side, where you’ll be asked to follow further instructions to complete your essential training courses, including our ‘Keeping Each Other Safe’ series and your Health and Safety induction.
  • Stage 3: Right to Study check (for students who do not hold British or Irish nationality). The Right to Study check ensures that international students hold an appropriate immigration status to study in the UK. Even if you hold settled status or have an indefinite right to remain, you’re still required to complete the Right to Study check.
  • Stage 4: Collecting your student ID card. The process depends on your nationality, as outlined below. You can collect a wristband to wear to temporarily access King’s buildings from The Courtauld’s Advice Desk at Vernon Square from Monday 22 September onwards. Please keep your wristband on until you have collected your King’s student ID card.
We strongly recommend you come to collect your wristband at least one working day before your first class with King’s or before accessing King’s campuses, services and facilities to avoid delays or issues getting to class on time. If you have a class with King’s on Monday morning, we encourage you to collect your wristband the week before.

Want a walk-through of enrolment at King’s? Use our enrolment checklist to go through the steps.

Important to know: the enrolment email will have been sent to your Courtauld email address and will include your K number. If you can’t locate the email, please contact King’s IT Service Desk, or call them on 020 7848 8888.

Collect your King’s student ID card

You can find full information about collecting your student ID card on Student Services Online (SSO). The process for collecting your student ID card depends on your nationality, as below:

I’m an international student who does not hold British or Irish nationality

Before collecting your King’s student ID card on campus, you must ensure that you’ve completed Stages 1, 2 and 3 of enrolment.

How do I collect my student ID card?

You must complete your Right to Study check as soon as you arrive in the UK. To do this, you’ll need to complete Stage 1 of enrolment, then login to Student Records with your K number and password, selecting the ‘Right to Study check’ tab at the top of the screen.

It usually takes one working day for the Visa Compliance team to review your documents and process your submission. However, complex cases may take longer.

Once you pass the Right to Study check, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a link to book a time slot for collecting your student ID card.

Student ID card collection slots are available from 09.30 every weekday from Monday 15 September – Friday 10 October. You can collect your ID card from any King’s campus, including our Strand Campus next to The Courtauld Gallery. There is no postal option.

Please ensure you collect your student ID card at the time you have booked, or the service may not be open.

What do I need to bring with me?

To collect your student ID card, you’ll need to bring the following:

  1. Your student ID card collection slot booking confirmation email
  2. Your Right to Study check confirmation email
  3. Your passport (not a scan or photograph), so we can confirm your identity. For more information, read our article What proof of identity do I need to provide to collect my student ID card?
