Starting your research is an exciting milestone in your academic journey. It can feel daunting, but don’t worry! King’s offers plenty of support to help you settle into student life.
Your digital essentials
Follow the steps in Accessing your IT account & connecting to the King’s Wi-Fi network to get set up ready to start your research journey. Then, learn about the software and systems you’ll use in your studies on Student Services Online (SSO).
Once your IT account is set up, enrol in two key courses to help you prepare for university: the Essential Digital Skills Programme introduces key learning platforms like KEATS and Microsoft 365, while Academic Skills offers self-study resources, workshops and one-to-one sessions so you can develop the skills you need to succeed at King’s.
Build your research skills for success
King’s Doctoral College offer a diverse doctoral development programme, designed to equip you with the skills you need to succeed in your research and to enhance your career prospects, starting with the Doctoral Essentials series.
This training gives you the foundational knowledge and key skills to help you navigate your research career at King’s. You can find out more about it on the King’s Doctoral College Hub SharePoint. Important to know: you’ll need to set up your King’s IT account to access this.
