Dear Student,

Welcome to King’s! We hope you’re excited to become part of our vibrant student community.

As a Portsmouth-based student, your campus experience will look different, but you still have the same access to King’s online learning resources and student groups as London-based students. With all the excitement of a new university experience ahead of you, it can be easy to forget the important tasks. Below, we share our step-by-step guide on what you need to do to access the benefits of studying at our Portsmouth branch campus.

Student Services Online (SSO) is the quickest and easiest way for you to find information about student life at King’s. You can find answers to questions and support topics, as well as talk with a member of the team through our enquiry form or live chat function.

In this email:

  • Complete enrolment: Step-by-step instructions on how to complete enrolment
  • Pay your tuition fees and manage your funding: How and when to pay your fees, your Postgraduate Master’s Loan and advice on funding and bursaries
  • Prepare for your studies: Essential software and systems used in your studies, setting up your IT account, online programmes to develop your skills and how Libraries & Collections can support your studies

Complete enrolment

If you haven’t already, you’ll soon receive an email with initial instructions on how to complete enrolment, which has four main stages:

  • Stage 1: Online enrolment
  • Stage 2: Essential training. Within Student Records, go to ‘My Training’ on the right-hand side where you’ll be asked to follow further instructions to complete your essential training courses, including our ‘Keeping Each Other Safe’ series and your Health and Safety induction.
  • Stage 3: Right to Study check (for students who do not hold British or Irish nationality). The Right to Study check ensures that international students hold an appropriate immigration status to study in the UK. Even if you hold settled status or have an indefinite right to remain, you are still required to complete the Right to Study check.
  • Stage 4: Collecting your student ID card. You’ll receive your student ID card during your induction.

Want a walk-through? Use our enrolment checklist to go through the steps.

The enrolment email will have been sent to the email address you supplied when making your application to study at King’s. If you can’t locate the email or believe it might have been sent to an email address you can no longer access, please contact us with your student number, which can be found on your offer letter.
