Dear Student,

Congratulations on achieving your place at King’s College London. In joining King’s, you will follow in the footsteps of distinguished alumni such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, authors like Virginia Woolf, scientists like Sir Peter Higgs, and Olympians like Dina Asher-Smith - and some quarter of a million other valued alumni around the world.

We look forward to welcoming you to King's and to celebrating the start of your journey with us. During Welcome to King’s in September, there will be a range of on-campus and online events and activities taking place to help you navigate university life. Please check your emails regularly for important information about joining us, and the support available to you as you prepare for the start of your studies

A special part of Welcome to King’s is our Opening of Year Ceremony, which will take place on Thursday 25 September 2025. This vibrant, multicultural celebration will feature an address from former Children’s Laureate, best-selling author and King’s Alum Sir Michael Morpurgo, and is a great chance to immerse yourself in music, dance and performances that showcase the diverse cultures and traditions within our community. There will also be a question and answer session with Sir Michael following the ceremony.

On-campus bookings open on the Welcome to King’s app on Monday 15 September. Make sure to get your free ticket to both events as soon as possible once bookings open, as spaces are limited.
