Brexit: Ten Years On

How have the intervening years since the referendum changed Britain and its relationship with Europe and the world? Where do we go from here?

Ten years after the Brexit referendum, debate continues over its lasting effects on Britain’s politics, economy, and place in the world. From shifts in domestic policy to changing relationships with European and global partners, Brexit has reshaped the UK in complex and often unexpected ways.

The discussion will examine how research at King’s has helped shape understanding of Brexit’s impacts, how policymakers assess the current UK–EU landscape, and what lessons can be learned as the UK navigates the next phase of its relationship with Europe and the wider world.

Drawing on in-depth research from King’s College London and its partners, along with real‑world policy experience, the panel will assess what Brexit has meant in practice and explore where the UK may go next.

Chaired by:

  • Jane Corbin, King’s alum (English Literature, 1975), award-winning journalist and Honorary Professor in the Department of War Studies.

The Panel:

  • The Rt Hon. The Lord Kinnock, Member of the House of Lords, former Leader of the Labour Party, and former Vice-President of the European Commission
  • Professor Anand Menon, Director, UK in a Changing Europe and Professor of European Politics and Foreign Affairs, King’s College London
  • Dr Maeve Ryan, Reader in History and Foreign Policy, Director of the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Slavery in War, and Co-Director of the Centre for Statecraft and National Security, King’s College London
  • Dr Swati Dhingra, Associate, Centre for Economic Performance, Associate Professor of Economics, London School of Economics, and External member of the Monetary Policy Committee, Bank of England

We hope you can join us.

Best wishes,

Katie Raymond
